Installing Visual Studio Analyzer

Visual Studio .NET 2003

During Setup, you can install the Visual Studio Analyzer client and server components. You typically install the client on the computer you use to run performance analysis. For example, you have four computers from which you collect events. You use only one of the computers as the analysis computer (computer 1). You install the client and server components on computer 1 and the server components on the other three (computers 2, 3, and 4).

Note   If you need to use both version 6.0 and this version on the same computer, it is possible for both versions to interoperate. When you install this version on a computer running version 6.0, this version of the server replaces the version 6.0 server. This version of Visual Studio Analyzer server is also backward compatible.

To install the Visual Studio Analyzer client and server components

  1. On the Visual Studio .Net Start page, accept the license agreement, and click Continue.
  2. On the Options page, expand the Enterprise Development Tools node, and then expand the Visual Studio Analyzer node.
  3. Click the check box beside Visual Studio Analyzer and the check box beside Visual Studio Analyzer Client.
Note   To install only the server component, select the check box beside Visual Studio Analyzer, and clear the check box beside Visual Studio Analyzer Client. To install only the client, select the check box beside Visual Studio Analyzer Client, and clear the check box beside Visual Studio Analyzer.
