Autodiscover Reference (POX)
Exchange Server 2010
The Autodiscover service provides the configuration information necessary to create a connection to an Exchange server. The Autodiscover service provides a mechanism that allows you to use “plain old XML” (POX) messages — that is, messages that consist solely of XML payloads without any enclosing SOAP envelopes — to locate the settings that a client application must have in order to connect to Exchange.

| For Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 and later versions, we recommend that you use the SOAP Autodiscover service instead of the POX Autodiscover service. For more information, see Working with Autodiscover. |
This section provides examples and descriptions of the messages that are used to retrieve Autodiscover configuration information by using the Autodiscover service .
