Recalculate a route from your current location

If you are using a GPS receiver with MapPoint, you can recalculate your route from your GPS-supplied location to get back on a route from which you have deviated or re-create your route after a detour. For your current location to be available to MapPoint, your GPS receiver must be receiving a satellite signal. Tall buildings, overpasses, and tunnels, among other things, can block your GPS receiver.

  1. When the GPS task pane open and the GPS receiver is getting a signal, type the place or address to which you want to go.

Tip  Click the down arrow at the right side of the Recalculate route from current location to text box to make your selection from a list of recently typed places and addresses.

  2. Click Go. MapPoint refreshes the map to include your current location as a numbered waypoint and to show the new route. If the Directions pane is open, the changes also are reflected in the step-by-step directions.

Tip  If your current position is not the start of the route, clear the Start GPS tracking check box, click Route Planner, and use Move Up Move Up icon to move the waypoint for your position to the start of the route in the route list. Click Get Directions, and then return to the GPS task pane to restart GPS tracking.
