Choose a map style

  1. On the View menu, click Map Style.
  2. Click one of the following:
  3. Road Map

    Road map

    Use this map style if you want a conventional road map with detailed information about roads, highways, towns, and cities.


    Road and Data Map

    Road and Data map

    Use this map style if you want your map to display roads, highways, towns, cities, and your mapped data. The road and data map has fewer labels than the road map.


    Data Map

    Data Map

    Use this map style if you want your map to display towns, cities, and your mapped data. The data map provides minimal labeling.


    Terrain Map

    Terrain map

    Use this map style if you want your map to display roads, highways, towns, cities, and geographic terrain.


    Political Map

    Political map

    Use this map style if you want your map to display roads, highways, towns, cities, and major political boundaries.


    Road Map (Night)

    Night Road map

    Use this map style if you want a conventional road map that you can view in low light conditions, such as when using the Driving Guidance feature at night.


Note  When you use the Data Mapping Wizard, the Import Data Wizard, or the Link Data Wizard, the map style is changed to Road and Data Map. This style is designed to display both roads and data clearly. The Road Map and Road Map (Night) styles are not available for maps that you create by using these wizards.

You can change the map style from the Navigation toolbar by selecting a different map style from the drop-down list. The name of the current map style appears in the list box.
