Journal names are the templates to select from when you create journals for cost transactions and service transactions in Cost accounting > Journals > Cost transactions or Service transactions.

Journal names are created in Cost accounting > Setup > Journal names. There are two different types of journals:

• Cost, which is used for cost transactions.
  
• Services, which is used for service transactions.
  

In addition to the Journal type, you also specify the following when you create a journal name.

Overview tab:

• Voucher series by entering the Number sequence code.
  
• Dimensions by selecting the appropriate dimensions.
  

General tab:

• Delete lines after posting, if applicable.
  
• Approval, if applicable.
  
• Offset transaction to specify if and how an offset transaction will be posted.
