Microsoft BizTalk Adapter for Oracle Database uses databases registered through the ODBC Data Source Administrator. It runs on Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003, and Windows XP.

BizTalk Adapter for Oracle Database has been tested against:

• Oracle client 8i (8.1.6.0 ), 9i (9.2.0.1), or 10i
  
  

All clients require the Oracle ODBC driver 9.2.0.5.4 installed under the System DSN tab. For more information, see Configuring a Database Connection. This driver can be downloaded from: http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/windows/odbc/index.html.

Oracle 9.2 note: The ODBC driver that is installed with the Oracle 9.2 client contains a bug that prevents the enumeration of items that have Japanese characters.

Note
Do not use the Microsoft Oracle database. This database is incompatible with the supported Oracle client.

You must have an Oracle client installed to use BizTalk Adapter for Oracle Database. The Oracle client installation includes the Oracle ODBC driver, which must be updated to Oracle ODBC driver 9.2.0.5.4 after you install the client.

The setup process includes the following steps:

• Installing the Oracle Client
  
  
• Upgrading the Oracle Driver
  
  
• Configuring a Database Connection
  
  

  Note
  The permissions that are set in the Oracle user account determine what you can see using the Adapter Wizard at design time in addition to how your end user uses your service at run time. For information about Oracle user account permissions, see Oracle Database Permissions.
