Base EDI Adapter

BizTalk Server 2006 R2 includes native support for Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) data exchange and AS2 data transport. The Base EDI adapter developed by Covast Corporation has been deprecated in BizTalk Server 2006 R2 and is made available through the upgrade-only scenario for backward compatibility reasons. The Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006 Base EDI adapter provides comprehensive electronic data interchange (EDI) messaging functionality to complement the XML messaging capabilities of BizTalk Server 2006.

You can use the Base EDI adapter to:

• Send and receive documents in an EDI format.
  
  
• Create partner-specific XML schemas.
  
  
• Track the processing history of an individual document.
  
  
• Automatically acknowledge the receipt of an EDI message.
