Alerts enable you to track changes or monitor occurrences of dates throughout Microsoft Dynamics AX.
Alerts are available from all forms that you have access to. You set up your own rules to be alerted about various kinds of events that you want to track. You can be alerted about overdue deliveries, orders that are deleted, prices that change, or other events that you need to respond to.
When you receive an alert, you can drill down to view more information about the relevant business data.
To be alerted, you must set up alert rules. Alert rules are set up in the form with the event to be monitored.
To be alerted about a field change, locate the form with the field and set up an alert rule from there. For an alert to be triggered when a new record is created, locate the form where the record will appear and set up an alert rule in that record. You can monitor all fields in Microsoft Dynamics AX that contain persistent data (rather than transient data such as a calculated account total.)
To be alerted about events that are related to certain records, you can set specific conditions on your alert rules. You can also control the title of and message included in the alert.
All alert rules available to you are listed in a form. This enables you to maintain an overview, sort, and delete individual rules. This also enables you to change or update details of individual rules. You can enable or disable alert rules to stop or start generation of alerts based on the rule, and for each rule you can change the way alerts are delivered to you.
If your administrator has made alert templates available, you can base your alerts on templates.
How to have alerts delivered
All alerts are delivered to you in an alerts inbox form in Microsoft Dynamics AX. In addition to receiving alerts in the inbox, you can have your alerts delivered as pop-up messages or as e-mail messages, or both.
If your company supports this feature, your alert e-mail messages will contain drop-down lists. From these lists, you can drill down to view more information about the alert.
If you work from Enterprise Portal, you can also receive your alerts from there.
