Handling Away Mode Notifications

Away mode enables a Windows Media Center PC to appear to the user as if it is turned off while the computer continues to perform tasks that do not require user input. When the user presses the Sleep button on the computer or remote control, the computer goes into a lower-power state called Away mode instead of going into Standby mode. In Away mode, the computer appears to the user as if it is turned off, but it is still available to perform certain tasks, such as recording TV programs and running Windows Media Center Extender sessions.

For more information about implementing Away mode, see Away Mode in Windows Vista on the MSDN Web site.
