Changing the Database Server

By using Component Database Manager, you can switch component database servers. You can only connect to one database server at a time, so the setting applies to both Target Designer and to Component Designer.

To change the location of the component database

  1. In Component Database Manager, select the Database tab, and then choose Change.

  2. In the Change Database Server Location dialog box, type the name of the component database server you want to use. You can also type the server IP address or Domain Name System (DNS).

  3. To change the connection setting for all local users, select the Change the connection setting for all local users check box.

  4. Choose OK.

    **Note   **If Component Database Manager cannot connect to the database you specify, an error occurs. You have the option to keep the new setting or revert to the old setting.
