Adding to an OS Design (Windows CE 5.0)

You can add to a Microsoft Windows CE–based OS design by doing one of the following:

  • Insert a Catalog item from the Catalog
  • Insert a project using the Insert command from the Project menu
  • Use a project wizard to create a project

Files, such as those for audio and video, can be inserted into an OS design using the same approach as used for projects.

By default, when you create a project, or add a project, file, or Catalog item to an OS design, it is included in the final run-time image.

Also, the Catalog contains preexisting Windows CE Catalog items. You can extend the Catalog by creating and importing Catalog item (.cec) files into the IDE. Third-party functionality can also be imported into the Catalog using the Microsoft Installer database files generated by the Export Wizard.

For more information about the Catalog, see Catalog Overview and Catalog Item Icon Types.
