What's New in Windows XP

Windows XP introduces the following new programming elements for Terminal Services.

Terminal Services WMI Provider

In addition, Windows XP introduces the Terminal Services WMI Provider. The WMI provider allows the administration of one or more terminal servers using standard WMI interfaces and the Terminal Services Configuration/Connections Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in.

Remote control persistent virtual channels

On Windows XP, a DLL can specify one or more virtual channels as remote control persistent. For more information, see Remote Control Persistent Virtual Channels.

Remote Desktop Web Connection

Windows XP includes Remote Desktop Web Connection, which is an updated version of the Terminal Services Advanced Client (TSAC). Remote Desktop Web Connection supports Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) 5.1 and is backward compatible with RDP 5.0. The IMsRdpClientAdvancedSettings, IMsRdpClientSecuredSettings and IMsRdpClient interfaces derive respectively from the IMsTscAdvancedSettings, IMsTscSecuredSettings and IMsTscAx interfaces, and provide additional properties and methods.
