I'm trying to understand the following Windows 7 Windows Installer 5.0 program Installation error messages and how to resolve them:
1. Error Message 1601: "The installation source for this product is not available. Verify that the source exists and that you can access it."
2. Error Message ????: "Windows Installer does not permit patching of managed advertised products. At least one feature of the product must be installed before apply the patch.
Theses two errors are received from Windows Installer when trying to install a "Patch" (Update?) to the installed Avid Studio software program. Uninstall and reinstall and a Registry cleaner was used to try and remove any entries to the Registry to try and reinstall the program from a 'cleaned Registry'. But these messages continue to appear on the installation process. I cannot identify the second message on either the Error code listings or the Windows Installer Error Messaging SDK pages for the support of Windows Installer. The program CD was used in the D: drive after the first message then the second message only appears. I would like to find a work around or option to contiue the Avid Studio Patch 1.1 install overriding the installation error if possible? Avid Tech support does not offer any solution to this problem. Any assistance from a knowledgeable person would be appreciated.
