HTTP Server API
 HttpCfg.exe
HttpCfg.exe

This tool helps you configure the HTTP Server API by wrapping the HTTP Configuration APIs for the following parameters:

  • IP Listen List
  • SSL Certificates
  • Namespace Reservations

HttpCfg.exe ships with the operating system starting with Windows Server 2003 as a binary executable, together with a help file that describes how to use it. It can be installed from the operating-system distribution disk as a support tool.

HttpCfg.exe is also available as a download; see Windows XP SP2 Support Tools.

Vista doesn't seem to ship with httpcfg.exe, but netsh.exe can be used to configure HTTP.SYS. The commands appear under netsh's http context. See http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc307236(VS.85).aspx

The article claims “HttpCfg.exe is also available as a download; see Windows XP SP2 Support Tools”.

The statement is not true. The “Windows XP SP2 Support Tools” download claims to have HttpCfg.exe, but actually does not.

Whether alone or bundled, there is currently no way to download HttpCfg.exe from Microsoft.
HttpCfg.exe Is There      Ruge   |   Edit   |   Show History
Note that the Windows XP Service Pack 2 Support Tools download does actually contain the httpcfg.exe. However, this is an optional install element (not obvious at all) and you do have to check the Optional Tools item to have it install httpcfg.exe.
