Logout

Visual Studio .NET 2003

A user selects the Logout option to disconnect his or her session with the Fitch and Mather 7.0 sample application.

Implementation

The Logout process uses the following ASP.NET file and C# code behind files:

Process Overview

The Logout process is initiated in the User Services Layer (USL). A user selects the Logout option from the list on the left side of the user interface, which calls the SignOut method of FormsAuthentication.

USL Source Code

By default, the USL source code is located in the [Drive letter where Visual Studio .NET is installed]:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003\Enterprise Samples\FMStocks7\Web\Logout.aspx.cs file.

protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
      {
         // The SignOut method invalidates the authentication cookie.
         FormsAuthentication.SignOut();
         Response.Redirect("Login.aspx");
      }

The user is then taken to the Login page.
