NCHAR

SQL Server 2000

Returns the Unicode character with the given integer code, as defined by the Unicode standard.

Syntax
NCHAR ( integer_expression ) 
Arguments

integer_expression

Is a positive integer from 0 through 65535. integer_expression can also be of a data type that can be implicitly converted to int within the specified range. If a value outside this range is specified, NULL is returned.

Return Types

nchar(1)

Examples

The following example returns the first letter of each company name listed in the Customers table of the Northwind database.

SELECT CompanyName, NCHAR(UNICODE(CompanyName)) 
FROM Customers
