URL Macros View Properties

This content is no longer actively maintained. It is provided as is, for anyone who may still be using these technologies, with no warranties or claims of accuracy with regard to the most recent product version or service release. The following table contains URL macros and their descriptions.

Macro Description
%datacontainer% The URL of the container of the item the form is bound to (with trailing "/"). If the current request is to a folder, this macro is equivalent to %dataurl%.
%dataurl% Returns the URL of the client request.
%formcontainer% The URL of the container of the form (with trailing "/").
%formurl% Returns the URL of the form.

The following table provides information about attributes, HTML support, behavior support, and a description of the attribute.

Attribute HTML Behavior Description
url Y Y Location of the data. If the URL is not specified anywhere, the default is %datacontainer%. The %dataurl%, %datacontainer%, %formurl%, and %formcontainer% macros are supported in this property.
viewDescriptorURL Y Y Location of an external view descriptor. The %dataurl%, %datacontainer%, %formurl%, and %formcontainer% macros are supported in this property.
viewDescriptor Y Y Location of an internal view descriptor. If both the viewDescriptor and viewDescriptorURL properties are present, the viewDescriptor property takes precedence.
linkSpec Y Y The linkSpec parameter specifies the URL that the view uses to navigate when items in the view are selected.

The linkSpec macro support is different than support for other properties. Only %dataurl% is supported. The %dataurl% macro is evaluated for each item in the view. In the case of client-side views, %dataurl% is expanded by the behavior and not by the form renderer. The form renderer does not expand %dataurl% for each item in client-side views.

Example:

linkSpec="% dataurl%/?cmd=edit"

rowsPerPage Y Y The number of rows per page. A value of "0" rows per page will return the entire result set. If the rowsPerPage attribute is unspecified, the default value is "0".
target Y Y This value specifies where the links in the view navigate. All values supported by the target property are supported. The default value is _self.

For example, _self, _parent, _blank, _top.

filter Y Y Identical to the XML filter tag.
