Convert.ToUInt64 Method (Char)

Converts the value of the specified Unicode character to the equivalent 64-bit unsigned integer.

This API is not CLS-compliant.

Parameters

value
Type: System.Char

The Unicode character to convert.

Return Value

Type: System.UInt64
A 64-bit unsigned integer that is equivalent to value.

The following example converts each element in a character array to an unsigned long integer.

char[] chars = { 'a', 'z', '\u0007', '\u03FF',
                 '\u7FFF', '\uFFFE' };
ulong result;

foreach (char ch in chars)
{
   result = Convert.ToUInt64(ch);
   Console.WriteLine("Converted the {0} value '{1}' to the {2} value {3}.",
                     ch.GetType().Name, ch,
                     result.GetType().Name, result);
}   
// The example displays the following output: 
//    Converted the Char value 'a' to the UInt64 value 97. 
//    Converted the Char value 'z' to the UInt64 value 122. 
//    Converted the Char value '' to the UInt64 value 7. 
//    Converted the Char value '?' to the UInt64 value 1023. 
//    Converted the Char value '?' to the UInt64 value 32767.
