Web Project Support
Visual SourceSafe has several features that are designed to support Web sites. If you need a Web project, your database administrator can set up a Visual SourceSafe project for your site. The Web project differs from other database projects only in the icon that is displayed in Visual SourceSafe Explorer. After the Web project is set up, you can add your HTML, graphics, and supporting files, just as you would for a regular Visual SourceSafe project.
Note Visual SourceSafe allows keyword expansion in HTML files, as well as standard text files. For more information, see.
Web Project Commands in Visual SourceSafe Explorer
Choosing the Web menu in Visual SourceSafe Explorer displays the following commands for a Web project:
Deploy. Deploys a set of Web project files to the designated Web server. For more information, see.
Check Hyperlinks. Examines links between files in your Web project. For more information, see.
Create Site Map. Creates a map of all the HTML files in your Web project. For more information, see.
Web Project Functionality in Visual SourceSafe Administrator
The Visual SourceSafe Administrator program includes Web and Web Projects tabs in the SourceSafe Options dialog box, accessed through Options on the Tools menu. These tabs allow your database administrator to set information applicable to Web sites, and designate a Visual SourceSafe database project as a Web project. For more information, see.
