Character <character> is not valid for alias names.

Visual Studio 2008

This error generally occurs when an incorrect character is entered as part of an alias name. Alias names cannot contain white space, =, [, ], /, -, or ".

To correct this error

  • Re-enter the alias name, omitting the incorrect character.
