Terms & Conditions - Competition: Get your web slice, accelerator or visual search promoted and win an Xbox 360 Elite

  1. ELIGIBILITY: This competition is open to any person resident in the UK who is 18 years of age or older at the time of entry.  Employees of Microsoft or its affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising or promotion agencies are not eligible, nor are members of these employees’ families (defined as parents, children, siblings, spouse and life partners).
  2. TO ENTER: Entry into this competition may only be made by persons who have built a web slice, accelerator or visual search for IE8. Entries will only be accepted if you have built on your own personal website or on public APIs.   Submit your entry to www.ieaddons.com in the UK & Ireland gallery. You will need to join the gallery first, and then upload your addon . Make sure you select Language as “UK & Ireland (English)”. Once your addon is uploaded to the gallery send an email to fortuneandglory@live.co.uk specifying you addon name, type (accelerator, web slice, visual search) and a contact email address.  By submitting your entry you acknowledge that it is your own work, and you agree that Microsoft may publish, display or use your entry in any medium it sees fit.  Microsoft reserves the right to exclude any entry from the competition which it feels infringes the intellectual property rights of any third party, and to disqualify any entry which is subsequently notified as doing the same.
  3. Incomplete, damaged, defaced or illegible entries may be deemed invalid at the sole discretion of Microsoft.  Entry constitutes full and unconditional acceptance of these Terms and Conditions. Microsoft reserve the right to disqualify anyone in breach of these Terms and Conditions.
  4. To help make the Internet Explorer Gallery a great place to find Accelerators, Web Slices, and share add-ons that will enrich your Internet Explorer experience, you agree to abide by thisCode of Conduct .
  5. Microsoft is not responsible for the content or activities of third-party software hosted on the Internet Explorer Gallery. Microsoft reserves the right to terminate your access to any hosted software or to delete content, without notice, found to be in violation of this Code of Conduct. Microsoft also reserves the right to change the rating or re-categorize all hosted software and its ratings/reviews at will and without notice.

  7. TIMING: This competition runs from 09:00GMT on 27 April 2009.  The closing date of this competition is 11:59 on 29 May 2009.  Completed entries must reach Microsoft no later than the closing date.
  8. USE OF DATA: Personal data which you provide when you enter the draw may be used for future Microsoft marketing activity.
  9. SELECTION OF WINNERS: There will be 4 winners, one for the best web slice, one for the best accelerator, one for the best visual search and one for any add on (web slice, accelerator, visual search).  The judges will be looking for  any of the following: innovative use of the technology, entries that have broad appeal, entries that show imaginative concepts or ideas, entries that show practical applications of the technology, entries that are seen as entertaining , and entries that are aesthetically pleasing where appropriate. The winners will be determined by a panel of 4 judges on 1 June 2009.  The panel of judges will include at least one independent member.  The winners will be notified by email by 8 June 2009. The winners may be required to become involved in further publicity or advertising
  10. PRIZE: There are four (4) Microsoft Xbox 360 Elites to be won, and each winner will be awarded one.  Prize as stated and non transferable.  No cash or other alternatives available. Microsoft reserve the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value.  The prize will be sent by courier delivery.   
  11. WINNERS LIST: The winner consents to their surname being made publicly available.  The winners surname will be available for a period of 3 months after the closing date by emailingfortuneandglory@live.co.uk.
  12. OTHER: No correspondence will be entered into regarding either this competition or these Terms and Conditions. In the unlikely event of a dispute, Microsoft’s decision shall be final.  Microsoft reserve the right to amend, modify, cancel or withdraw this competition at any time without notice.
