My.Computer.Keyboard.ShiftKeyDown Property 

Gets a Boolean indicating if a SHIFT key is down.

Dim value As Boolean = My.Computer.Keyboard.ShiftKeyDown

Public ReadOnly Property ShiftKeyDown As Boolean

A Boolean value. True if a SHIFT key is down; otherwise False.

The My.Computer.Keyboard.ShiftKeyDown property provides functionality similar to the ModifierKeys property.

This example uses the My.Computer.Keyboard.ShiftKeyDown property to determine if one of the computer's SHIFT keys is down.

If My.Computer.Keyboard.ShiftKeyDown Then
    MsgBox("SHIFT key down")
Else
    MsgBox("SHIFT key up")
End If
