OracleLob.Seek Method

Note: This namespace, class, or member is supported only in version 1.1 of the .NET Framework.

Sets the position on the current OracleLob stream.

[Visual Basic]
Overrides Public Function Seek( _
   ByVal offset As Long, _
   ByVal origin As SeekOrigin _
) As Long
[C#]
public override long Seek(
 long offset,
 SeekOrigin origin
);
[C++]
public: __int64 Seek(
 __int64 offset,
 SeekOrigin origin
);
[JScript]
public override function Seek(
   offset : long,
 origin : SeekOrigin
) : long;

Parameters

offset
A byte offset relative to origin. If offset is negative, the new position will precede the position specified by origin by the number of bytes specified by offset. If offset is zero, the new position will be the position specified by origin. If offset is positive, the new position will follow the position specified by origin by the number of bytes specified by offset.
origin
A value of type System.IO.SeekOrigin indicating the reference point used to obtain the new position.

Return Value

The new position within the current stream.

Exceptions

Exception Type Condition
ArgumentException The origin parameter does not contain a valid value.
ArgumentOutOfRangeException The resulting position is beyond the length of the value.
ObjectDisposedException The OracleLob object was closed or disposed.
OracleException An Oracle error has occurred.

Remarks

If offset is negative, the new position is required to precede the position specified by origin by the number of bytes specified by offset. If offset is zero (0), the new position is required to be the position specified by origin. If offset is positive, the new position is required to follow the position specified by origin by the number of bytes specified by offset.

Seeking to any location beyond the length of the stream is supported. Seeking to an odd position for CLOB and NCLOB data types is also supported. For more information, see the Remarks section of the Read property.
