Design Templates

Design templates are macro components that include all of the basic resources necessary to build a particular device such as a gaming console or retail point-of-sale terminal. Design templates are provided with the development tools and are ready to use.

Adding a design template to your configuration is a one step process, and saves time and simplifies the manner in which you add functionality to your run-time image. Configurations can include additional components and resources along with design templates. After being added to a configuration, a design template can be customized to provide only the features that you need.

The following table shows the design templates that Microsoft provides. They are available in the Design Templates node of the component browser tree in Target Designer.
