How to: Upgrade from Team Foundation Server Workgroup Edition

You can upgrade Team Foundation Server Workgroup Edition to Team Foundation Server. To do this, you must have a valid product key for Team Foundation Server. For more information about Team Foundation Server upgrades, see Team Foundation Server Upgrade Types.

NoteNote

After you upgrade from Team Foundation Server Workgroup Edition, the membership of the Team Foundation Licensed Users group no longer controls access to Team Foundation Server, but the group will still exist. You can choose to remove members from this group.

NoteImportant

During the upgrade of Team Foundation Server, you must provide a product key. If you acquired Team Foundation Server through a volume licensing program, you will not have an individual product key to provide during the upgrade process. You might need to contact Visual Studio Developer Professional Support in order to obtain a product key for the upgrade. For more information about licensing and obtaining product licenses, see the Team System Licensing White Paper (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=55164).
