Windows Embedded Core (Standard 7 Package Reference)

Windows Embedded Core is the smallest deployable image of Windows Embedded Standard 7. It contains boot critical drivers and basic support for security, servicing, and networking. This section describes the Windows Embedded Core settings that you can configure in an answer file.

Maintains a list of all available domains and servers on a network.

Configures whether the evaluation-copy notice is displayed.

Deployment

Specifies settings related to auditing a computer.

DNS-Client

Contains settings for configuring the Domain Name System (DNS), a system for naming computers and network services that organizes them into a hierarchy of domains.

ErrorReportingCore

Specifies settings for error reporting.

IE-ClientNetworkProtocolImplementation

Contains network policy settings.

International-Core

Includes the language and input locale settings for the system and the user.

International-Core-WinPE

Specifies the default language, locale, and other international settings to use during Windows Setup or Windows Deployment Services installations.

Kernel-PnP

Contains settings for the Bootable Windows USB Stack package.

LUA-Settings

Includes settings related to the Windows User Account Controls (UAC).

NetBT

Contains networking settings for NetBT.

Networking-MPSSVC-Svc

Contains settings for Windows Firewall, which protects computers by preventing unauthorized users from gaining access through the Internet or a network.

OS-Kernel

Contains settings for the File-Based Write Filter package.

PartitionManager

Specifies settings to configure the Storage Area Network (SAN) policy.

PnpCustomizationsNonWinPE

Adds one or more out-of-box drivers to a Windows installation. (Drivers are added during the auditSystem configuration pass.)

PnpCustomizationsWinPE

Adds one or more out-of-box drivers to a Windows installation. (Drivers are added during the windowsPE configuration pass.)

PnpSysprep

Specifies whether all Plug and Play information persists during the generalize configuration pass.

Printing-Spooler-Core

Configures actions that the print spooler service performs when the computer starts.

Security-Licensing-SLC

Deprecated. Use Security-SPP instead.

Security-SPP

Removes licensing values set during system installation and testing.

Security-SPP-UX-SPPCC

Specifies referral IDs for the Windows Anytime Upgrade program.

Setup

Contains settings to select the Windows image that you install, configure the disk that you install Windows to, and configure the Windows PE operating system.

Shell-Setup

Contains elements and settings that control how the shell of a Standard 7 system is installed on a destination computer.

SMBServer

Provides the integration and the authentication for Windows client computers to access network printers and file systems that run on UNIX servers.

Smss

Contains the PagingFiles settings for the File-Based Write Filter package.

SQMAPI

Implements the Windows Customer Experience Improvement Program (CEIP).

SystemMaintenanceService

Configures flash storage devices like USB keys and SD cards as supplemental memory caches. This can improve system responsiveness, especially on systems with lower RAM or slower disks.

SystemRestore-Main

Contains settings to enable or disable the creation of restore points.

TCPIP

Specifies the TCP/IP networking settings.

TerminalServices-LocalSessionManager

Contains settings for enabling remote desktop connections.

UnattendedJoin

Enables a computer to join a domain during the specialize configuration pass.

WDF-Kernel Library

Contains settings for the Kernel-Mode Driver Framework (KMDF), used for device drivers.

WorkstationService

Creates and maintains client network connections to remote servers, by using the Server Message Block (SMB) protocol.
