Create Media Using Image Configuration Editor (Standard 7 SP1)

Image Configuration Editor offers the ability to generate files needed to create bootable media for Image Builder Wizard and Windows Preinstallation Environment (Windows PE) 3.0 as well as Image Builder Wizard with an answer file. This can be used when your distribution share has been updated, or when you need additional Image Builder Wizard disks.

  • You have installed Image Configuration Editor on a development computer.
  • If you want to create a new Image Builder Wizard disk that includes an answer file, you must have access to that answer file.
  1. On your development computer, open Image Configuration Editor.

  2. On the Tools menu, click Create Media, and then click Create IBW Image with full Distribution Share.

  3. In the Create IBW Disk dialog box, do the following:

    • Select the distribution share you want to place on the disk.
    • Select a target folder for the files that will be generated.
    • Choose the target architecture for the Image Builder Wizard disk.
  4. Click OK.

  1. On your development computer, open Image Configuration Editor.

  2. On the Tools menu, click Media Creation, and then click Create PE Image.

  3. In the Create WinPE Disk dialog box, do the following:

    • Select the target folder for the files that will be generated.
    • Choose the target architecture for the Windows PE disk.
  4. Click OK.

  1. On your development computer, open Image Configuration Editor, and then open the answer file you want to include.

  2. On the Tools menu, click Media Creation, and then click Create IBW Disk from Answer File.

  3. In the Create IBW Disk dialog box, select the target folder for the files that will be generated.

  4. Click OK.

After you have gathered the media files you need, copy them from the target directory onto your bootable media. For more information, see Create a Bootable USB Flash Drive.
