Generic CompactPCI Chassis
The Generic CompactPCI Chassis component represents specific models of Compact PCI chassis from specific vendors. After configuration, they contain information required by the Compact PCI hot swap module to integrate the PCI bus master to the peripheral boards to be hot swapped.

The following table shows the configurable settings that exist for each PCI bridge device defined within the chassis.

|Slot path||This string identifies which bus segment is being configured using the rest of the settings. This slot path is constructed by concatenating slot numbers from that of the device itself to the slot number of PCI bus 0. Each slot number is in hexadecimal BIOS format – shift the slot number by 3 to the left and bitwise-OR with the function number (slot << 3 | function).
For example, the slot path for a device identified at (2,12,0) [bus=2,device=12,function=0] with bus 2 as the secondary bus for the bridge at (0,17,0), will be 6088. The first slot number is 60 hex, corresponding to the device itself (slot 12, 0xC << 3 | 0); the second slot number is 88 hex, corresponding to its parent bridge (slot 17, 0x11 << 3 | 0).
|Dynamic bus number assignment||Normally, the BIOS will sequentially assign the bus numbers to be used, leaving no room for a new bus to be inserted. However, You can choose to allow dynamic bus numbering to occur by selecting the dynamic bus number assignment check box.|
|Do not reset secondary bus||This check box should not be selected in Windows XP Embedded. The system does not reset the bus even if this check box is cleared. Selecting this check box will prevent the operating system from resetting the PCI bus segment when a switchover from one system slot board to another.|
|I/O Space (from, to, size)||The To and From values in this range specify the allowable range of I/O addresses for the given PCI bridge device. The bridge will not use all I/O addresses in this range, but it will only be assigned the addresses specified by the size value within this range.|
|Memory(from, to, size)||The To and From values in this range specify the allowable range of memory addresses for the given PCI bridge device. The bridge will be assigned the addresses specified by the size value within this range.|
|Prefetchable memory (from, to, size)||The To and From values in this range specify the allowable range of prefetchable memory addresses for the given PCI bridge device and the amount of prefetchable memory the bridge is allowed to use.|
