Prototype: CompactPCI Chassis
The Prototype: CompactPCI Chassis component is the prototype component for chassis support on a device. The CompactPCI (cPCI) standard defines a rugged version of a PCI bus and includes additional features, such as hot swap capability, that make it ideal for industrial computers.
This component is the prototype for all chassis components and is automatically added to all run-time images. All chassis components inherit from this component.

Settings
The settings that are shown in Target Designer for this designer are inherited by the component for chassis type you select. Do not configure this component or manually add it to your run-time image.
This component allows for the specification of up to 5 bridge resources in Target Designer on the Platform Hardware Settings tab. The settings to be configured for each bridge resource are described in the following table.
Setting | Default | Description |
---|---|---|
Slot path | None | Specifies the bus segment to be configured. This slot path is constructed by concatenating the slot number of the device to the slot number of the PCI bus 0. Each slot number is specified in hexadecimal BIOS format. |
Dynamic bus number assignment | Cleared | Specifies whether dynamic bus numbering will occur. Normally, the BIOS sequentially assigns bus numbers, leaving no room to insert a new bus. |
Do not reset secondary bus | Cleared | Do not select this checkbox in Windows XP Embedded.
Windows XP will not reset this bus even if this check box is cleared. Selecting this check box presents the operation system from resetting the PCI bus segment when there is a transition from one system slot board to another. |
I/O space (From, To, Size) |
None | Use the From and To values to specify the allowable range of I/O addresses for the given PCI bridge device. The bridge does not use all I/O addresses in this range. Instead, the bridge is assigned only the addresses that are specified by the size value within a given range. |
Memory (From, To, Size) |
None | Use the From and To values to specify the allowable range of memory addresses for the given PCI bridge device. The bridge is assigned only the addresses that are specified by the size value within a given range. |
Prefetchable memory (From, To, Size) |
None | Use the From and To values to specify the allowable range of prefetchable memory addresses for the given PCI bridge device and the amount of prefetchable memory that the bridge is allowed to use. |
