How to: Rename a Server-Level Group

You can choose to rename a group to better reflect its purpose. To rename a group, you must have read/write permission to the group you are renaming. You cannot rename the default server-level groups, such as Team Foundation Administrators.

Required Permissions

To perform this procedure, you must be a member of the Team Foundation Administrators group. For more information about permissions, see Team Foundation Server Permissions.

To rename a server-level group

  1. In Team Explorer, select the Team Foundation Server that the group is in.

  2. On the Team menu, point to Team Foundation Server Settings, and then click Group Membership.

  3. In the Global Groups dialog box, select the group you want to rename, and then click Properties.

    Note

    You cannot rename default groups.

  4. In the Team Foundation Server Group Properties dialog box, in the Group Name box, enter the new name for the team project group.

  5. Click OK, and then click Close.
