Optimizing Server Performance

Microsoft SQL Server automatically tunes many of the server configuration options, so system administrators are required to do little, if any, tuning. These configuration options can be modified by the system administrator, but we generally recommend that administrators leave the server configuration options at their default values. The default settings allow SQL Server to automatically tune itself based on run-time conditions.
