How to: Configure the Dialog Boxes of Team Edition for Testers

While you work with Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition for Testers, certain situations occur for which Visual Studio requires confirmation or guidance, which it requests from you through a dialog box. For descriptions of the various situations for which you might be prompted for confirmation or guidance, see Dialog Boxes of Team Edition for Testers.

You can respond every time that you are prompted, or, if you expect to answer the same way every time for a particular dialog box, you can choose a default setting. One way to choose a default setting is to select Do not show this dialog box again, when it is available, and then to answer the question posed by the dialog box. Clicking Cancel does not set a default even if you have selected Do not show this dialog box again.

Another way to choose a default setting is to use Default Dialog Box Action on the Options dialog box, as described in the procedure "To configure Test Tools dialog box functionality" in this topic.

Note

After you have selected Do not show this dialog box again in a particular dialog box, the only way to re-enable display of the dialog box is to perform the steps described in the following procedure and select Always prompt in step 3 as the default behavior.

To configure Test Tools dialog box functionality

  1. Click Tools and then click Options.

This displays the Options dialog box.

  2. Expand Test Tools and then click Default Dialog Action.

This displays the Default Dialog Action page.

  3. Use the columns in the table on this page to specify the default behavior for each dialog box; each row in the table represents one dialog box. For more information about your choices and their meanings, see Dialog Boxes of Team Edition for Testers.

  4. Click OK.
