Creating a Boot Floppy Disk for an x86 SDB (Windows Embedded CE 6.0)

1/5/2010

This topic describes how to create a boot floppy disk for an x86 standard development board (SDB).

Note

MakeImageDisk.exe is compatible with Windows XP or earlier versions of Windows. These steps must be performed on a desktop workstation that runs Windows XP or earlier versions of Windows.

To create a boot floppy disk for an x86 SDB

  1. On your development workstation, insert a blank 3.5-inch floppy disk in the floppy disk drive.

  2. Navigate to the %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Platform Builder\6.00\CEPB\Utilities directory, and then run MakeImageDisk.exe.

  3. From the MakeImageDisk window, choose Open, and navigate to %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Platform Builder\6.00\CEPB\Utilities, and choose CepcBoot.144.

  4. Press Start.

The boot floppy disk will be formatted with MS-DOS 6.22, and then the CEPCBoot.144 disk image will be copied to the boot floppy disk.

  5. Choose Exit to close the MakeImageDisk application.
